Bridle
01 — Definition
A rigging configuration that suspends a single load on two or more legs from separate anchor points, redistributing the force where no single point sits directly overhead. The angle between the legs governs everything: as the included angle widens, the tension in each leg rises steeply, and beyond 120° a leg can carry more than the load itself.
02 — In the field
Wider bridle angles multiply leg tension fast. Keep the included angle under 90° wherever you can; past 120°, each leg carries more than the total load, and the horizontal force can pull the anchor points inwards.
