Refresh Rate vs Scan Rate
01 — Definition
Two distinct figures that get conflated. Refresh rate is how many times per second the entire display updates; scan rate is how fast the LED controller re-scans the panel rows. A wall can show 60 Hz refresh but a 3840 Hz internal scan rate. It is the scan rate that decides whether the wall flickers on a high-speed camera sensor: above 3000 Hz is the minimum for broadcast and film use.

An LED wall that looks fine to the eye but flickers on camera? The scan rate is too low for that camera shutter speed. Ask the supplier for the fixture's scan rate spec before confirming it for broadcast or film.
