Frame Rate (fps)
01 — Definition
The number of image frames per second. The landmarks: 24 fps for cinema, 25 fps for PAL broadcast (Europe/Australia), 29.97 fps for NTSC (USA/Japan) — that fractional rate is crucial for timecode — 50/60 fps for sports and live events, and 120 fps for high-speed slow motion. Mixing frame rates anywhere in the chain causes sync problems, judder or duplicated frames.

Always set cameras, capture cards and output devices to the same frame rate before the event. Discovering a mismatch mid-broadcast means several minutes of repair, at best.
