Follow Spot
01 — Definition
A long-throw spotlight, worked by hand, for following a performer who moves. Its parts: colour boomerang, iris (variable aperture), douser (quick blackout), gel frame. The classic call system: GO to change colour or iris, FADE to dim, FULL for full bright — the operator follows on intercom.

Brief every follow spot operator on your own call system before the show. Conventions change from one production company to the next: never assume the operators know your shorthand.
