Haze vs Fog
01 — Definition
Two ways of making air visible. Haze is fine particles held in suspension, put out continuously by a hazer: nearly invisible to the eye, but it draws the beams, especially in backlight. Fog is a dense, plainly visible cloud, released in bursts. And cryo — liquid CO₂ or nitrogen — gives a cold, ground-hugging fog that lasts a very short time.
02 — In the field
In a venue with smoke detectors, set the haze timing with the venue technical team — most optical-scatter fire detectors will go off with heavy haze. Always get disabling or masking the detectors signed off by venue management in advance.
