EDID — Extended Display ID Data
01 — Definition
The identity card every display presents to the source: the resolutions, refresh rates, colour spaces and audio formats it can handle. Where it breaks: an extender or splitter that passes that EDID through badly, and the source outputs a format the display cannot show.
02 — In the field
A source giving the wrong resolution behind an extender? The extender has substituted its own EDID. Force the correct output format with an EDID programmer, or a scaler that manages EDID.
